Korean, Pinay held over P143,000 hotel bill

MANILA, Philippines — A Korean businessman and a Filipina businesswoman were arrested in a hotel in Makati on Thursday for allegedly failing to settle their hotel bill amounting to over P143,000.

Changmu Lee, 51, and Meriniza Manalo, 41, were apprehended by Southern Police District officers in a hotel on Ayala Avenue after they presented screenshots of online bank transfers to cover their bill for their stay, which started on June 9.

The hotel’s finance department verified that none of the transactions succeeded or were received.

The two face charges of estafa, the SPD reported.
