Woman held for ‘kidnap’

ILOILO CITY, Philippines — A woman was arrested after she allegedly kidnapped a son of her neighbor in Ajuy, Iloilo over the weekend.

Julie Rose Recalde, 40, reportedly took the seven-year-old boy to an abandoned house in Barangay Luca on Friday.

The boy’s mother reported the incident to the village officials, who initially could not find the suspect, according to Lt. Gen. Enrique Robles, Ajuy police chief.

Police said Recalde hid in the ceiling of the abandoned house and refused to let go of the boy.

After rescuing the boy, police discovered that Recalde’s 10-year-old daughter was with her in the ceiling.

Both children were rescued unharmed.

Recalde told police that she took the boy because his mother was neglecting him.

The boy’s family said they would press charges against Recalde.
