573 loose guns recovered in Cotabato

John Unson - The Philippine Star

COTABATO CITY, Philippines — At least 573 firearms aside from improvised explosive devices and grenades were recovered in Cotabato from January to June 5, police said.

Brig. Gen. Pablo Labra II, Soccsksargen police director, said the firearms were turned over by members of communist groups who have surrendered as well as villagers.

“This is the result of our continuing police-community relations activities in all municipalities and cities in Region 13,” Labra said.

He said the improvised bombs and fragmentation grenades were seized during various law enforcement operations.
