MANILA, Philippines — A Chinese fugitive who was arrested in 2016 for alleged possession of P100 million worth of shabu was intercepted at the Ninoy Aquino International Airport (NAIA) last week, the Bureau of Immigration (BI) reported yesterday.

Chen Yiye, 48, was nabbed before he could board a China Southern flight at the NAIA Terminal 1, according to BI Border Control and Intelligence Unit chief Dennis Alcedo.

Immigration officers arrested Chen after his travel records showed that he had been blacklisted by the BI.

Chen was apprehended in August 2016 in Angeles City, Pampanga for alleged possession of over 36 kilos of shabu with an estimated value of P100 million.

Immigration Commissioner Norman Tansingco lauded port personnel for the fugitive’s arrest.

Chen is being held in the BI detention facility at Camp Bagong Diwa in Taguig pending his deportation.
