4 dead in Quezon, Maguindanao road mishaps
MANILA, Philippines — Four persons, two of them minors, died in road accidents in Quezon and Maguindanao towns on Monday.
Truck driver Romeo Nazar, 60, and his helper Bernardo Diolta, 43, were declared dead on arrival in a hospital after a three-vehicle collision occurred along Maharlika Highway in Barangay Malinao Ilaya in Atimonan, Quezon.
Initial investigation showed that the wing van Nazar was driving, which was loaded with cigarette packs, collided with two other trucks in the opposite direction.
The two other trucks were loaded with softdrink bottles and steel.
In Maguindanao, Salbin Lumenda, 17, died when his motorcycle crashed into a Toyota Hilux in Barangay Tamontaka in Datu Odin Sinsuat.
Lumenda was thrown off his motorcycle due to the impact of the crash and then run over by a Ford Raptor.
Lumenda’s companion Wakay Diocolano, 15, died while being treated in a hospital.
Case investigator S/Sgt. Bobby Pendililang said the families of the victims and the owners of the sport utility vehicles agreed to an amicable settlement. – John Unson
