MANILA, Philippines — A low-pressure area monitored west of Palawan may bring rains over Mimaropa, according to the state weather bureau.

The Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration (PAGASA) said the weather system was monitored some 225 kilometers northeast of Kalayaan Islands as of 3 p.m. yesterday.

PAGASA said the low-pressure area was not expected to intensify into a tropical cyclone and may soon dissipate.

The rest of the country will experience generally fair weather aside from isolated rains.

The intertropical convergence zone and localized thunderstorms may bring cloudy skies with rain in Metro Manila.

PAGASA warned the public of flash floods and landslides during heavy rain.
