Cayetano vows zero tolerance vs corruption

Emmanuel Tupas - The Philippine Star

MANILA, Philippines — Taguig Mayor Maria Laarni Cayetano yesterday said that she would not tolerate any form of corruption in the city government.

Cayetano gave the warning as she signed her first executive order, which institutionalizes a faith-based values-oriented leadership in the city.

Under Executive Order No. 2022-01, Cayetano is seeking to establish a moral uprightness and values formation program, ensuring that all city hall employees continue to serve their constituents with honesty and integrity.

After she was sworn in as the city’s chief executive, Cayetano visited programs that embody her three priorities – health, economic development and peace and order.

She checked on Taguig’s Love Caravan in Barangay Balagtas, where residents benefited from free medical and dental services.

She also vowed to improve the health programs developed by her brother-in-law and predecessor, former mayor Lino Cayetano, who spearheaded the city during the height of the COVID-19 pandemic.

Cayetano also met with Taguig police chief Col. Robert Baesa, with whom she discussed plans to ensure the city remains safe from criminals.
