PNP releases P7.31 billion in mid-year bonus

MANILA, Philippines — The Philippine National Police announced yesterday it has released P7.31 billion in mid-year bonuses to PNP personnel.
PNP officer-in-charge Lt. Gen. Vicente Danao Jr. said the cash benefit would be credited to the payroll accounts of 22,787 police officers and personnel by May 17.
“The funds came from the regular PNP appropriations itemized under the police organization’s budget this year,” Danao said.
The mid-year bonus is given annually and is part of the PNP’s budget every year, he said.
The amount to be given to each PNP personnel is equivalent to one month basic salary.
Pursuant to the Tax Reform Acceleration and Inclusion or TRAIN Law, Danao said any pay exceeding P90,000 would be subjected to withholding tax.
Danao said the mid-year bonus is one of the ways to recognize the dedication and hard work of police officers.
“While it is true that our service to the country is priceless, the government finds it fitting to provide its employees with incentives on top of their regular salaries,” he said.
PNP members who were found guilty of administrative or criminal cases by final executory judgment are not entitled to receive the mid-year bonus.
