PNP: 251 areas under granular lockdown
MANILA, Philippines — A total of 251 areas in the country are under granular lockdown due to COVID-19 cases, the Philippine National Police (PNP) reported yesterday.
Police said 297 households or 343 people are affected by the lockdown.
The affected residents are being secured by 121 police officers and 335 force multipliers.
Four regions have areas under lockdown, with the Cordilleras topping the list with 139.
The other regions with locked down areas are Ilocos with 83, Metro Manila with 16 and Cagayan Valley, 13.
The 16 areas under lockdown in the National Capital Region are all in Manila, affecting 17 people.
At least 438,003 people have been apprehended nationwide for violating COVID-19 protocols since Feb. 1.
Of the number, 71,470 violators were arrested in Metro Manila.
Police said 379,624 people were accosted for disregarding minimum public health standards, 53,081 for ignoring curfew and 5,298 for leaving their homes even if they were not allowed outdoors.
