277 held for gun ban violation
MANILA, Philippines — A total of 277 people nationwide have been arrested for violation of the election gun ban.
Philippine National Police spokesperson Brig. Gen. Roderick Augustus Alba reported yesterday that 35 were apprehended on Friday.
Fifteen of those arrested were from the National Capital Region and six from Calabarzon.
The other violators were from Central Luzon, Central Visayas, Ilocos and Eastern Visayas.
Among those arrested was security guard Jeffrey Olanda, 38, in Barangay Tabok in Mandaue, Cebu for alarm and scandal.
The suspect yielded a .38-caliber handgun.
The gun ban, which started on Jan. 9, will be effective until the end of the election season on June 8.
