ALAMINOS CITY, Philippines — A pilot died while his student was injured when a two-seater trainer plane crashed in Sitio Paradise in Barangay Telbang in this city at around 9:20 a.m. yesterday.

Capt. Daryl Uy died at the scene.

Caran France Kaura, 21, a resident of Barangay Pagkakaisa in San Narciso, Quezon, was brought to the Western Pangasinan District Hospital for treatment.

Initial investigation showed the trainer plane, with body number RP-C8202 and “Fly Fast” markings, crashed into a fishpond.

The aircraft took off from the Lingayen Airport at around 8:22 a.m. for an orientation flight.

Civil Aviation Authority of the Philippines (CAAP) spokesman Eric Apolonio said an Aircraft Accident Investigation and Inquiry Board team was dispatched to the crash scene.

Last Friday, CAAP reported that a Cessna 206 aircraft of Aerohub crash-landed along the shore in Barangay Tinaguiban in El Nido, Palawan due to engine failure.

The pilot and crew were rescued. – Rudy Santos, Richmond Mercurio, Artemio Dumlao
