4 BIFF bomb couriers surrender in North Cotabato

COTABATO CITY, Philippines — Four suspected bomb couriers of the Bangsamoro Islamic Freedom Fighters (BIFF) surrendered in North Cotabato on Monday.

Sanny Mamalumpong, Ato Sandato, Satol Butuan and Darang Katog turned over three rifles and an M14 to the military and municipal government officials of Midsayap.

Maj. Gen. Juvymax Uy, 6th Infantry Division commander, said the four were members of a BIFF faction led by Kagui Karialan.

In Zamboanga City, suspected Abu Sayyaf bomb expert Kalmi Mustala, 42, was arrested in a raid in Barangay Maasin yesterday.

City police chief Col. Rexmel Reyes said Mustala, who is based in Sulu, is wanted for illegal possession of explosives, double frustrated murder and double attempted murder.
