Bishop recovers from COVID-19
MANILA, Philippines — Archbishop Gilbert Garcera of Lipa, Batangas has recovered from COVID.
After receiving his negative test result, Garcera celebrated an online mass at his residence, the CBCPNews reported yesterday.
“The Archbishop can’t receive visitors yet because he still needs to rest, but he is already COVID-free. Thank God,” said Fr. Jazz Siapco, head of the archdiocese’s social action ministry.
The 62-year-old bishop announced on March 21 that he contracted the virus and was in a hospital. He is the 10th prelate to catch the disease.
Last month, three other prelates tested positive for COVID and all of them have recovered. They were Cebu Archbishop Jose Palma, emeritus Cebu Bishop Antonio Rañola and San Fernando Archbishop Florentino Lavarias.
