Cagayan lifts ban on liquor sale

Raymund Catindig - The Philippine Star

TUGUEGARAO CITY, Philippines — Drinking in public places is still banned, but sale and consumption of liquor has been allowed in Cagayan.

Gov. Manuel Mamba issued an executive order lifting the ban after the province shifted to general community quarantine on May 1.

However, authorities continue to arrest persons caught transporting liquor.

In Amulung town, police seized 120 bottles of gin from a truck in Barangay Centro on Friday. The truck driver and five farm laborers were arrested.

Around 150 quarantine violations in Cagayan in March and April were due to liquor sale.
