S. Leyte, S. Cotabato special polls set
MANILA, Philippines — The Commission on Elections (Comelec) has set the elections for representatives of newly created districts in Southern Leyte and South Cotabato on Oct. 26.
The poll body said the filing of certificates of candidacy (COCs) is from Aug. 26 to 28.
Substitution of candidates is allowed only until Sept. 16.
In a resolution, the Comelec said concerned political parties should submit a list of authorized signatories and specimen signatures not later than Aug. 15.
Filing of request for correction of the name to appear on the ballot is until Sept. 11. Substitute candidates can file for corrections until Sept. 18.
The poll body had earlier suspended the elections in the reapportioned legislative districts due to operational and logistical constraints.
Republic Act 11198, which divides Southern Leyte into two districts, took effect on Feb. 19. RA 11243, which creates the lone district of General Santos City was signed on March 11.
