Indonesian ship arrives in Manila for goodwill visit

MANILA, Philippines — The Philippine Navy welcomed yesterday an Indonesian Navy ship for a four-day goodwill visit.

KRI Bima Suci of the Indonesian Naval Academy is docked in Manila’s South Harbor.

Skippered by Commander Widiyatmoko Baruno Aji, the visiting naval vessel carries about a hundred naval cadets and crew.

Commander Jonathan Zata, director of the Naval Public Affairs Office, said the visit reaffirmed the strong relations between the Philippine and Indonesian navies.

A Philippine Navy delegation headed by Commander Gary Tafalla, assistant chief of Fleet Staff for Reservist and Retiree Affairs, accorded the Indonesian Navy ship a welcome ceremony.

Aji is scheduled to pay a courtesy call on Philippine Navy chief Vice Admiral Robert Empedrad during his stay.
