PDEA gives P7.3 million to 12 tipsters

MANILA, Philippines — The Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency (PDEA) yesterday gave around P7.3 million in cash to 12 civilian informants under its Operation Private Eye (OPE) program.

PDEA director general Aaron Aquino yesterday handed out the awards to informants identified by their code names as Ador, Sakuragi, Jackpat, Kidlat, 24, Bungo, Mike, Kulas, Sandoro, Ex-Boy, Abo and Agila.

“I commend them for providing information that led to the arrest of 25 drug personalities, the dismantling of clandestine laboratory used in the manufacture of methamphetamine hydrochloride, or shabu and the seizure of over P4 billion worth of shabu, ephedrine and marijuana,” he said in a statement.

Eight were physically present during the ceremony at the PDEA headquarters in Quezon City while four –Sandro, Abo, Kulas and 24 – were absent for unknown reasons.

The informants wore masks and sunglasses to hide their identities as they received their reward.

Ador received P2 million for his tip that led to the arrest of four drug suspects and seizure of 44,022.80 grams of shabu in Quezon City in November 2016.

PDEA also handed over P2 million to Sakuragi for information that led to the arrest of two drug suspects and the seizure of 529 kilos of shabu in San Juan City in December 2016.

Mike received P1.6 million for a tip that led to the dismantling of a clandestine shabu laboratory in Cauayan City, Isabela where 1,665 grams of ephedrine were seized.

Jackpat received P1.18 million for the seizure of 18,672.9 grams of shabu in Quezon City in February 2017.

Informant 24 received P179,442.53 for his information which led to the arrest of a drug suspect and confiscation 2,404.84 grams of shabu in Zamboanga City in December 2017.

Bungo received P105,159.10 for the arrest of two drug dealers and seizure of 1,461.8 grams of of shabu in Quezon City last January.

A total of P84,583.97 was awarded to Agila for the arrest of four drug suspects in Ermita, Manila in December 2017 where 996.8 grams of shabu were confiscated.

Kulas received P72,000 for the arrest of two drug suspects and confiscation of 35,948.83 grams of marijuana leaves in Alilem, Ilocos Sur in March 2017.

Authorities gave P45,905.08 to Kidlat for the arrest of three drug pushers and seizure of 1,001.1 grams of shabu in Taguig City in December 2017.

Ex-Boy got P28,504.05 for a sting in Quezon City in May 2017, wherein two drug suspects were arrested and 3,076.80 grams of shabu were confiscated.

Abo received P22,767.57 for a tip that led to the arrest of a drug dealer in Sta. Mesa Manila in November 2017 where 506.70 grams of shabu were confiscated.

Sandro received P22,119.60 for the arrest of two drug suspects and seizure of 13,236.32 grams of marijuana in Kapangan, Benguet on April 2017.

PDEA also gave P7.5 million in cash incentives to four of its operating units: the Central Luzon office received P2.1 million; the Intelligence and Investigation Service, P2 million; the National Capital Region office, P1.9 million; and the Special Enforcement Service, P1.4 million.
