Boy, 7, dies in grenade blast in Oriental Mindoro

CAMP VICENTE LIM, Philippines — A seven-year-old boy died when a rifle grenade he found in a vacant lot in Oriental Mindoro exploded on Tuesday, authorities said yesterday.

Glenrey Vicente Osorio brought the ammunition at their house in Sitio Breeding, Barangay Nasucob, Bulalacao and hit it with a hammer, Superintendent Imelda Tolentino, Mimaropa police spokesperson, said, citing a police report.

Osorio was pronounced dead on arrival at the Bulalacao Community Hospital.
