MANILA, Philippines – Authorities responded to a new fire at the Waterfront Manila Pavilion Hotel and Casino on United Nations Avenue in Manila on Tuesday morning.

Reden Alumno, Manila Fire District chief arson investigator, confirmed that a fire broke out at the hotel-casino anew around 11 a.m.

The Manila Fire District inspector said that the rekindled fire was not big and came from the ground floor.

"It is normal for fire to rekindle," Alumno said in a radio interview over dzBB.

The Manila Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Office immediately responded to the rekindled fire.

Nearby tenants and passersby are advised to avoid the area for any possible danger posed by the fire being rekindled.

On Sunday, the blaze at the hotel-casino left five employees dead.

The fire also broke out anew on Monday afternoon.

The Bureau of Fire Protection said a probe is still ongoing to determine the cause of the fire but arson has already been ruled out.

The National Bureau of Investigation will conduct a parallel investigation into the fire.
