Glock still PNP’s standard firearm
MANILA, Philippines – As part of its commitment to the Philippine National Police, Glock Asia Pacific has conducted a three-day tactical pistol training for select members of the PNP.
The training was held at the National Capital Region Police Office firing range in Bicutan, Taguig in September last year in coordination with local partner Trust Trade, according to Glock’s Sven De Souter.
Each participant used 750 rounds of ammunition during the gun exercises.
De Souter said those who took part in the training could pass on their knowledge in handlingthe 9mm Glock 17 Generation 4 pistol through the programs of the PNP Directorate for Human Resource and Doctrine Development.
Glock officials had explained to PNP chief Director General Ronald dela Rosa that reloaded ammunition may be used for Glock pistols.
The PNP is among the law enforcement forces worldwide using Glock pistols as standard service firearms.
Glock 17 Generation 4 pistols have passed the 20,000-round endurance and stress tests administered by the PNP.
Glock firearms are being used by the world’s elite forces such as the Australian Federal police, Italian Presidential Guard, Singapore police, Peruvian Army and the British Army.
