Airbus tire explodes while landing at Kalibo airport - CAAP
MANILA, Philippines – The Civil Aviation Authority of the Philippines (CAAP) on Thursday afternoon confirmed that an airbus plane’s tire exploded while landing at Kalibo airport.
According to CAAP spokesperson Eric Apolonio, an Airbus-320 plane operated by SEAir was landing on Runway 05 at the Kalibo International Airport when its right tire burst. The incident happened at 2:42 p.m.
The flight, carrying 144 adults, four children and three infants, departed from the Incheon International Airport in South Korea.
Apolonio said no one was hurt from the incident, although radio reports said it affected two flights in Kalibo. The plane was towed off the runway after all the passengers disembarked.
The CAAP official said all operations will return to normal operations by Thursday evening.
“All passengers and crew are ok and nobody sustain(ed) any injuries,” Apolonio told Philstar.com.
“Airport operations are expected to normalize around 7 p.m. today after replacement of busted tire and aircraft is pulled on the parking bay,” he added.
