Drug suspect kills cop
BATANGAS, Philippines – A policeman was shot dead, reportedly by a suspected drug trafficker, in Nasugbu town here Saturday night.
Police Officer 2 Arnel Baral of the Tuy municipal police died from gunshot wounds in the chest and buttocks, said Chief Inspector Pablo Aguda, Nasugbu police chief.
Reports said Baral and his cousin Hermoso Cayabyab went to Sitio Roxas in Barangay Lumbangan to meet a certain Andoy, an alleged drug pusher.
Baral reportedly convinced Andoy to help him arrest a big-time drug trafficker in the village.
Andoy reportedly agreed but shot Baral as soon as they entered a narrow alley in Sitio Roxas, Cayabyab told investigators. The suspect fled after the killing.
Investigators recovered six bullet shells for a caliber .45 pistol and two slugs at the crime scene.
A manhunt has been launched for the suspect.
