CAMP VICENTE LIM, Laguna, Philippines – Two suspected robbers were killed after trading shots with police officers who were responding to a robbery at a convenience store in Bacoor City, Cavite Monday night.

Superintendent Romano Cardiño, chief of the provincial police intelligence unit, said the suspects posed as customers of the All Day convenience store in Barangay Niog 3 and staged the heist at around 11:40 p.m.

Cashier Joyce Tonocante was able to call the attention of a passing police mobile patrol, Cardiño said, adding that the robbers aborted their operation when they noticed the police officers.

But instead of giving up, the suspects reportedly shot at the officers and fled in a Toyota sedan.

Police officers caught up with the robbers along Niog Road, where a shootout occurred and resulted in the suspects’ deaths.
