400 families lose homes, 6 hurt in Malabon fire

MANILA, Philippines - Six people were hurt after fire broke out in a residential area and razed 200 homes in Malabon City, before dawn Wednesday.

Firefighters identified those hurt during the blaze as Rodel Mabute, 36; Ogie Basco, 17; John Michael Alunsaga, 22; Roderick Cruz, 18; Nino Cruz 35; and Mark Anthony dela Cruz, 25. 

Initial reports said that the blaze started on C. Perez Street in Tonsuya, Malabon City, where around 400 families lost their homes. 

Arson investigators estimated that around P2 million worth of properties were damaged by the fire of still unknown origin.
