Cop’s son, girlfriend nabbed in drug sting

TUGUEGARAO CITY, Philippines – A police officer’s son and his girlfriend were allegedly arrested in a sting by operatives of the Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency (PDEA) and the local police in Cauayan City, Isabela on Wednesday.

Lord Louis Duarte and Marjorie Marcos reportedly yielded four plastic sachets said to contain shabu, drug paraphernalia and marked money.

Duarte is reportedly included in the PDEA watchlist, said PDEA spokesman Louella Tomas.

Duarte is a son of Senior Police Officer 4 Lupo Duarte of the city police investigation unit.

Police Officer 3 Bernard Valiente Jr. said the arrest shows that the police is serious in its campaign against illegal drugs.

The arrest came two days after another lawman, Police Officer 3 Marlon Sanchez, a member of the PNP Special Weapons and Tactics team in this city, was arrested for allegedly selling an undetermined amount of shabu to a PDEA agent.
