Tornado rips through Capiz village

MANILA, Philippines — A tornado ripped through a coastal village in Roxas City in Capiz early Tuesday morning, smashing through some homes.

Antique Provincial Disaster and Risk Reduction action officer Esperedion Pelaez told a state news outfit that the windstorm was spotted in Barangay Cogon around 8 a.m.

The local branch of the the weather bureau also confirmed the phenomenon.

No one was reportedly injured, but the several shacks and fishing facilities were damaged.

The Philippine Coast Guard said in a radio report that all vessels in the area were prohibited to travel as typhoon Glenda barrels through Luzon, affecting waters in the Visayas. - Camille Diola
