Dengue hits Midsayap

NORTH COTABATO, Philippines ----Four residents of Midsayap town perished while 76 others have been hospitalized due to dengue fever since the start of the rainy season,  a health official said.

Merlita Anecita, disease surveillance chief of the municipal health office of Midsayap, told reporters the statistics were only for the month of May.

She said the local government unit of Midsayap has launched a massive campaign to curb the spread of the mosquito-borne disease, such as fogging operations and information campaign.

North Cotabato Gov. Emmylou Taliño-Mendoza has ordered the Integrated Provincial Health Office to deploy workers in Midsayap to help the LGU address the continuing rise of dengue cases in the local communities.
