Olongapo RD worker shot dead

SAN FERNANDO, Pampanga, Philippines  â€“ An employee of the Registry of Deeds of Olongapo City was shot dead by a motorcycle-riding gunman in the city’s Bajac-bajac district over the weekend, police said yesterday.

Benjamin Escolango II, 43, of Benette Road Forestry, Old Cabalan, died from a gunshot to the head, according to Senior Superintendent Rodolfo Recomono Jr., acting Olongapo City police director.

Escolango was about to board his truck on Rizal Avenue, East Bajac-bajac, when he was shot at about 11 a.m.

Witnesses, who rushed the victim to the James Gordon Hospital, described the gunman as about 5’6” tall and  of medium build.

Recomono said probers are looking into the possibility that the killing could be work-related.

Police recovered a caliber .45 slug at the scene.
