Mindoro gov faces plunder complaint
MANILA, Philippines - Occidental Mindoro Gov. Josephine Sato is facing a P68.7-million plunder complaint filed by one of her constituents before the Office of the Ombudsman.
The complainant, Apollo Francisco of San Jose, Occidental Mindoro, accused Sato of allegedly falsifying her statement of assets, liabilities and net worth (SALN) and amassing unexplained wealth.
In his complaint, Francisco alleged that Sato omitted two lots worth P28.9 million in a high-end subdivision in Antipolo City from her 2009 and 2010 SALNs.
Francisco also alleged that a mansion worth P41.16 million and a concrete fence valued at P15 million were undeclared in both SALNs, too.
Francisco alleged that Sato could not have afforded to purchase such expensive real estate properties with her legally obtained income.
