Avenida in Manila now open to traffic

Drivers and commuters welcomed Saturday morning the re-opening of Avenida to vehicular traffic.

Immediately after his re-election as Mayor of Manila, Alfredo Lim vowed to open Avenida, or Rizal Avenue. His predecessor, Mayor Lito Atienza, closed the street and converted it into a park under his Buhayin ang Maynila program.

“It’s [the re-opening of the street] is really to the advantage of drivers and commuters,” said one jeepney driver.
