2 suspects in German chef’s slay fall

-
SURIGAO CITY — The police have arrested two suspects in the holdup-slaying of a 51-year-old German chef here last Aug. 30.

The victim, Rainhold Jehle Mosbach, 51, who was married to a Filipina from this city, died from multiple stab wounds in the neck, chest and right hip. His killers reportedly robbed him of P500 before killing him.

Chief Inspector Virgil Taguiamon Ranes, officer-in-charge of the city police, told The STAR that the arrested suspects, Erwin Valentin Castillo, 18, and Danilo Medel, joined the victim’s drinking spree with his wife’s relatives.

After consuming a few bottles of a local brew, Mosbach decided to go home to Barangay Poctoy aboard a motorcycle driven by Medel, with Castillo also riding at the back.

Upon reaching a dimly lit portion of Barangay Togbongon, the suspects announced a holdup and pointed a knife at Mosbach’s neck.

Mosbach showed his wallet containing only P500, irking the suspects. He then fought it out with them, leading to the fatal stabbing. — Ben Serrano
