Fugitive’s parents: Deport us

-
DAVAO CITY — The parents of the alleged financier of the shabu laboratory busted here on New Year’s Eve have reportedly sought voluntary deportation from the immigration bureau.

Benjamin Lao, alien control officer for Southern Mindanao, said Sy Son Lu and Lim King Shu, parents of fugitive Allan Sy, have filed a petition for voluntary deportation.

"They filed a petition but until now it has not been granted by our Manila office," Lao said.

The couple, together with eight others, were arrested a day after the raid on the shabu lab which Sy allegedly operated in his warehouse in Barangay Dumoy.

Sy, who is still being hunted down, allegedly led a syndicate behind the shabu lab which yielded over 100 kilos of high-grade shabu worth more than P300 million, high-tech shabu-making equipment and tons of chemicals.

Sy’s wife, Jed Pilapil-Sy, brother in-law Jong Pilapil and cousin Carlos Sy were earlier arrested and charged.

Authorities believe that Sy is still in the country.

Subsequent raids on two other warehouses which Sy also owns here yielded multimillion-peso shabu-making equipment, including a giant air scrubber, and barrels of ephedrine, a substance used in manufacturing the illegal drug.

Sy’s parents were actually just visiting the country during the Christmas holidays and were supposed to return to Fujian, China last Jan. 23. The immigration office in Iloilo City had extended their visas.

Lao said seven other Chinese nationals arrested together with Sy’s parents remain detained here since they reportedly violated certain immigration laws.

The seven are Cai Ling Na, Tony Lu, Sun Fah Sy, Guo Ya Shu, Zhen Wen Tun, Lu Ji Xiao and Allan Lim Dee.

Six other Oriental-looking foreigners, believed to be chemists, were killed in a shootout during the raid on the shabu lab.

They, however, remain unidentified and their bodies are unclaimed at the Angel Funeral Homes in Toril district here.

Mayor Rodrigo Duterte earlier gave instructions that the bodies be donated to the Davao Medical School should they remain unclaimed.
