Linggo ng Musikang Pilipino returns with 'Pinoy Coded' theme

MANILA, Philippines — Linggo ng Musikang Pilipino (LMP) returns this July with a month-long lineup of concerts, educational programs and community events celebrating Original Pilipino Music (OPM).
This year's celebration carries the theme "Pinoy Coded," which highlights Filipino identity through music and aims to encourage greater appreciation for local artists, songwriters, producers and other music industry professionals.
Established through Proclamation No. 933 in 2014, Linggo ng Musikang Pilipino has become an annual celebration that promotes Filipino music and supports the country's music industry.
OPM President Ogie Alcasid said the theme was inspired by current trends while continuing to promote Filipino culture.
"The theme this year was a product of being exposed to current trends and trying to engage with a younger core audience. But we still wanted to retain that love for our music and our culture," Alcasid said.
Among this year's highlights is the return of OPM Spotlight, a month-long concert series featuring performances by OPM artists in Metro Manila, Baguio, Palawan, and Iloilo. The festival will also include the LMP2026 Rockwell Series, an all-OPM acoustic showcase at Power Plant Mall in Makati from July 25 to 31.
Aspiring musicians will also get the chance to perform during the OPM-ic Open Mic Night on July 29 at Backdoor Maginhawa, while music professionals and students can participate in the LMP2026 Music Talk Series on July 25 at Trinoma Cinema 6, where industry experts will discuss topics such as music production, royalties, distribution, and current industry trends.
OPM Executive Director Gab Cabangon said the organization is expanding this year's celebration beyond Metro Manila to highlight the diversity of Filipino music across the country.
"We're excited to collaborate with productions outside of Metro Manila. It has always been our goal to expand the LMP celebration to different parts of the country," Cabangon said.
Linggo ng Musikang Pilipino 2026 is organized by the Organisasyon ng mga Pilipinong Mang-Aawit (OPM) in partnership with the Filipino Society of Composers, Authors and Publishers (FILSCAP), with support from Power Plant Mall, MBC Media Group, Soundesign Manila, and several regional and government partners.
