Pia Lee-Brago - The Philippine Star

MANILA, Philippines - The number of Filipino workers in Taiwan is expected to increase after the Manila Economic and Cultural Office and Taipei Economic and Cultural Office (TECO) set up an International Direct E-employment System (IDES) for faster job applications without having to go through brokers.

TECO said there are 120, 000 Filipino workers in Taiwan.

At the 104th National Day of the Republic of China (Taiwan) on Thursday, Representative Gary Song-Huann Lin cited recent developments in Taiwan-Philippines relations.

Lin emphasized that overall relations between the Philippines and Taiwan are cordial and strong.

In 2014, Taiwan was the seventh largest foreign investor of the Philippines and there are over 6, 000 Taiwanese businessmen operating nearly 600 companies here.
