American caught with gun in luggage at NAIA

Rudy Santos - The Philippine Star

MANILA, Philippines - A 69-year-old American leaving for Detroit was arrested at the Ninoy Aquino International Airport Terminal 3 (NAIA-3) yesterday morning after a .22 caliber revolver and five bullets were found in his check-in luggage.

Ray Moyer, a former production supervisor of a car manufacturer, had visited a “girlfriend” in Bacolod and was supposed to board a flight for Detroit via Narita, Japan when he was arrested, according to Senior Inspector Dave Mahilum of the police Aviation Security Unit.

He said Moyer passed the initial x-ray inspection at the NAIA-3 but Delta Airlines’ X-ray machine operators detected the gun.

Moyer, who refused to talk on the gun and bullets found in his luggage, was charged with illegal possession of firearms before the Pasay prosecutor’s office, Mahilum said.
