Barangay councilman shot in Caloocan

MANILA, Philippines - A barangay councilman was shot in front of his house in Tala, Caloocan City Saturday night.

Luisito Banzon, 37, of Barangay 187, was unloading a sack of rice from his vehicle at around 7:30 p.m. when a man shot him twice in the head.

His attacker then ran toward an accomplice who was driving a motorcycle.

Banzon’s relatives rushed him to the Jose Rodriguez Hospital, where he was reported to be in critical condition.

Investigators said they are not ruling out politics as a motive for the attack.
