Swede arrested for selling P5-M shabu

MANILA, Philippines - A 65-year-old Swedish man was arrested in Parañaque City Saturday for allegedly selling a kilo of shabu, which has a street value of P5 million, to an undercover law enforcer, an official said yesterday.

Retired marine engineer Bjarne Schelin, who is married to a Filipina, was arrested by Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency operatives and city police officers in a drug bust in Barangay San Antonio just before noon, PDEA director general Arturo Cacdac Jr. said.

Schelin, who has been in the country for almost 25 years, is allegedly a member of a transnational drug trafficking syndicate, Cacdac said.

A cell phone Schelin reportedly used for illegal drug transactions was seized during the bust, PDEA said.
