Retired cop loses gun, valuables to burglars

-

A retired police official lost his gun and P70,000 worth of valuables to suspected “Akyat Bahay” gang members during a power outage in Tondo, Manila early Thursday morning.

Retired police inspector Ricardo Tangunan, formerly of the Regional Special Action Unit of the National Capital Region Police Office (RSAU-NCRPO), told investigators that aside from his Colt .45 caliber pistol worth P30,000, the suspects also took away a Hermes watch worth P40,000, a P15,000 Apple iPod and a portable playstation worth P15,000.

According to Chief Inspector Benigno Macalindong, who heads the theft and robbery section of the Manila Police District, the suspects took advantage of the power outage in Vitas, Tondo by destroying the lock of the sliding door at the ground floor which houses the computer rental business of the family.
