CPD chief earns first star

-
Central Police District director Senior Superintendent Napoleon Castro was promoted to chief superintendent yesterday in simple ceremonies at the Philippine National Police (PNP) headquarters at Camp Crame.

PNP Deputy Director General for operations Virtus Gil, assisted by Metro police chief Deputy Director General Reynaldo Velasco, pinned the star on Castro, who was joined by members of his family

Castro, a member of the Philippine Military Academy Class of 1972, had been assigned to various CPD posts before being designatas director last year.

Prior to his stint as CPD chief, Castro also headed the CPD-Criminal Investigation Division where he spearheaded the investigation of several controversial cases and the neutralization of several crime gangs.

Castro, who celebrated his 55th birthday last Saturday, was district director for operations when he was placed on floating status at the time of PNP chief Director General Leandro Mendoza. He then took the Officers’ Senior Executive Course at Fort Bonifacio.

Castro was appointed CPD director shortly after Quezon City Mayor Feliciano Belmonte Jr. was elected into the office. Christina Mendez
