Pajotan Sto. Niño festival

-
The Mary Help of Christians Parish in Maypajo, Caloocan will hold its annual Pajotan Sto. Niño Festival with a nine-day novena that will culminate in a procession on Sunday, Jan. 28.

The procession will follow the 8 a.m. Mass at the Maypajo church patio officiated by parish priest, Fr. Larry Toledo, Msgr. Federico Navarro and Bishop Teodoro Becani Jr. All 22 parish organizations and 11 barangays spearheaded by their cabezas in their uniquely designed costumes will dance their way in the procession. Candies and drinks are free.

The affair is sponsored by the Special Ministers of the Holy Communion, headed by Arsenio Navarro Jr. who is also the founding chairman of the Pajotan Festival. Several parishes in the district are joining the celebration like San Roque Parish, St. Joseph Parish, Sacred Heart Parish and also barangays and public schools.

The grand affair is named after pajotan, a local variety of mango which bears small but sweet fruits that were once abundant in Maypajo, a village in southern Caloocan City which means "May Pajo," short for may pajotan.
