TESDA promotes techvoc courses

MNS - The Freeman

CEBU, Philippines - The Technical Entrepreneurial Skills Development Authority (TESDA) yesterday cited the Mandaue City government for maintaining a technical vocational school that offers relevant courses for students.

"I would like to thank the city government for the technical vocational school which is accessible and offers relevant courses to students," said Danilo Montana, assistant TESDA provincial director during the graduation ceremony of 204 students of Mandaue City College Technical, Entrepreneurial, Skills Training (MCCTEST) Center at Mandaue Cultural and Sports Complex.

Montana also lauded the teachers of the school for playing their role in helping change the lives of students. "No amount of salary can be gratifying that seeing your students find a good job or running his/her own business."

Mayor Jonas Cortes' message read by Councilor Editha Cabahug, chairperson of the committee on education, said graduation is a "big day" but it is only the beginning of another journey.

"When you undertake any important task in life, there will be sceptics. Ignore them, and like the steamboat, move ahead," he said.

The students were graduates of the following short courses, Automatic Mechanic, basic refrigeration, computer literacy with basic hardware servicing, Dressmaking with ISMO, Commercial Cooking, Baking and Pastries, Food and Meat Processing, Refrigeration and Air-Conditioning, Cosmetology, Draperies and Curtains-center base, Industrial Sewing Machine Operation.

"Our end goal is to manage our own business," said Jescel Sampong, Daisery Ceniza, and Joseph Cantago, graduates of Cosmetology. (FREEMAN)
