Quisumbing pours P5M into his scholarship program

CEBU, Philippines - Sixth district representative Luis Gabriel Quisumbing yesterday poured P5 million from his Priority Development Fund into the Benedicto College for his Tech-Voc Scholarship program.

Quisumbing and Ambassador to India Frank Benedicto, owner of the Benedicto College and Technical Vocational School, signed a  memorandum of agreement (MOA) formalizing their partnership in the legislator’s Tech-Voc Scholarship Program.

The MOA signing was witnessed by LP gubernatorial candidate Hilaro Davide III and PB Thadeo Ouano.

“Our Tech-Voc scholarship program will equip and enhance their skills and talents to better serve the community and work together for the development of the sixth district of Cebu,” Quisumbing said.

The “Mobile Traning Van” was also launched yesterday.

This van will go to remote barangays of the sixth district to offer short courses to the under-privileged youth who could not afford to come to the city to study.

Courses that could be availed of at the mobile training van includes commercial cooking, food beverage and bartending and housekeeping while automotive courses, plumbing, and welding are held inside the school.

Applications and identification of scholars will be initiated by the district office of the legislator wherein more than a thousand students may avail of the program. (FREEMAN)
