3 SRCDC Greyhounds to compete in New Zealand HoopNation tourney
CEBU, Philippines — Three playersof San Roque College de Cebu (SRCDC) Greyhounds in the Cebu Schools Athletic Foundation, Inc. (CESAFI) will showcase their skills on the international stage when they compete in a basketball tournament in New Zealand later this month.
They are John Raven Dumanhug of Tabogon, Anthony Ross Luche of Daanbantayan and Bert Nathan Curimao from Lapu-Lapu City.
Under the guidance of coach Jeff Codera, the SRCDC trio will join the Sunsport New Zealand team in the HoopNation Tauranga Classic on October 23–26 at the Mercury Baypark Arena in Mount Maunganui, Tauranga, New Zealand.
“Joining an international tournament is more than just allowing them to play basketball on a bigger stage.
It is about giving them a chance to grow, challenge themselves, learn from the best, and discover what they are truly capable of achieving,” said Codera, who is a member of the NBA’s Golden State Warriors training camp for more than a decade now.”
“Opportunities like this do not come every day. Beyond winning, the experience and lessons they gain from competing against international teams will be just as valuable. I want them to make the most of every moment,” he added.
Codera and his players are scheduled to leave for New Zealand on Monday, October 12.
Seeing action in their first season in Cebu’s premier inter-school athletic league, Codera and the SRCDC Greyhounds have posted a 2-3 win-loss record so far. — (FREEMAN)
