MANILA, Philippines — The Philippine National Police has awarded about P4.1 million in cash rewards to civilian informants whose information led to the arrest of suspects in major criminal cases.

The payouts were handed over during a ceremony on Monday, May 4, at Camp Crame, led by police chief Police General Jose Melencio Nartatez Jr., according to a statement from the PNP.

The rewards were given to informants who provided leads that resulted in arrests linked to crimes such as murder, kidnapping, rape, terrorism financing, and violations of drug and child protection laws.

A total of P4,145,000 was distributed, the PNP said.

Police officials said the reward system is meant to encourage public participation in law enforcement by providing incentives for information that helps track wanted persons.

Nartatez said the program reinforces intelligence gathering and cooperation between police and the public.

“The cooperation of citizens remains a cornerstone of effective crime prevention and resolution,” he said.

The program provides cash rewards for information that leads to the arrest of suspects, including those wanted for serious crimes.
