MANILA, Philippines — The Independent Commission for Infrastructure (ICI) is about to be done with its investigative work, according to special adviser Rodolfo Azurin Jr.

“As of now, all other cases referred to us are nearing completion,” Azurin told reporters on Wednesday.

As for other cases that may still be referred to the ICI, Azurin said, “It will definitely be acted upon by the ICI as soon as possible.”

The ICI is in the process of summarizing its “accomplishments” from September to December 2025 in a report to be submitted to the Office of the President.

The fact-finding body’s fate is hanging in the balance, with President Marcos telling reporters last week that while the ICI’s existence would depend on its remaining workload, “they really are coming toward the end.”

Without a formal termination order, the ICI’s work continues, according to Azurin, making referrals to the Office of the Ombudsman if necessary.

Despite the controversies surrounding the commission that Marcos himself conceived, the ICI is still keeping its head up. “The morale of our people is still OK,” Azurin said.
