MANILA, Philippines — Public satisfaction with the Marcos administration slightly increased in the last quarter of 2023, according to a survey conducted by the OCTA Research group.

From 56 percent in October 2023 – the lowest under the current administration – satisfaction with the Marcos government increased to 59 percent in the survey conducted from Dec. 10 to 14.

It was composed of eight percent who said they were “very satisfied” with the administration and 51 percent who said they were “somewhat satisfied.”

While slightly up from the most recent poll, the latest survey results were still lower than the 76 percent, 72 percent and 63 percent obtained in October 2022, March 2023 and July 2023, respectively.

Meanwhile, those who were dissatisfied with the Marcos administration increased from 13 percent in October 2023 to 14 percent in December 2023. It was the highest dissatisfaction rating obtained by the current administration in the OCTA surveys conducted since it assumed office in 2022.

Those who were neither satisfied nor dissatisfied dropped from 30 percent to 24 percent.

Based on the survey, satisfaction with the Marcos administration was highest among those in Metro Manila and the Visayas at 71 percent (from 62 percent and 53 percent, respectively), followed by those in Mindanao at 56 percent (from 59 percent) and the rest of Luzon at 53 percent (from 55 percent).

Across socio-economic classes, it was highest among class ABC at 66 percent (from 55 percent), followed by those in class D at 64 percent (from 56 percent) and class E at 40 percent (from 59 percent).

Dissatisfaction with the Marcos administration was highest among those in Mindanao at 20 percent (from 18 percent), followed by those in balance Luzon and the Visayas at 14 percent (from seven percent and 22 percent, respectively) and Metro Manila at eight percent (from 16 percent).

It was highest among respondents from class D at 16 percent (from 13 percent), followed by those in class E at 15 percent (from 16 percent) and class ABC at four percent (from 17 percent).

OCTA’s Tugon ng Masa survey had 1,200 respondents and a margin of error of plus/minus three percent.
