MANILA, Philippines — Fair weather with chances of isolated light rains will prevail over Metro Manila during the Feast of the Black Nazarene today.

At least five million devotees are expected to join the annual procession, which features the image of the Black Nazarene.

The Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration (PAGASA) said the temperature in the capital will range from 22 to 30 degrees Celsius.

The route of the traslacion or movement from Quirino Grandstand to the Minor Basilica of the Black Nazarene in Quiapo, Manila spans approximately 6.1 kilometers, according to National Capital Region Police Office (NCRPO) chief Director Guillermo Eleazar.

Last year, the traslacion lasted 22 hours.

No weather disturbance is expected to affect the country until the weekend, PAGASA added.

PAGASA said none or one tropical cyclone is expected to enter the Philippine area of responsibility this month.

Southern Visayas and Northern Mindanao are the usual tracks of the cyclones that enter the country from January to April, said Ana Liza Solis, head of PAGASA’s climate monitoring and prediction section.

Last year, a total of 21 cyclones visited the country.

The country’s last cyclone in 2018 Tropical Depression Usman left at least 126 people dead, mostly from landslides caused by torrential rains, according to the National Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Council.
