Guanzon: Commissioners don’t want barangay, SK polls delayed
MANILA, Philippines – Commission on Elections (Comelec) Commissioner Rowena Guanzon on Sunday said the members of the poll body do not want to postpone barangay and Sangguniang Kabataan (SK) elections.
On her Twitter account, Guanzon said she even pushed for the approval of the budget for the barangay and SK polls slated on October 31 since only Comelec Chairman Juan Andres Bautista wants to delay the elections.
I moved for approval of budget for bgry &SK elections .we're working n En Banc.Bautista wants to postpone, we dont.

Last week, Guanzon said she and two other commissioners Luie Guia and Christian Robert Lim have decided to boycott the two upcoming polls so that Bautista can run the elections by himself.
Bautista earlier said he is eyeing the postponement of the barangay and SK polls because Filipinos may have already developed “election fatigue.” He added that it will also be expensive so a postponement would be better.

Meanwhile, the Comelec is looking for a supplier for ballot boxes and other election paraphernalia to be used in the the two upcoming elections. The poll body’s bids and awards committee (BAC) said a P642.1-million budget was approved to procure 233,500 ballot boxes at P2,750 per unit based on separate invitations.
The BAC is scheduled to conduct a pre-bid conference on July 11 while the bid documents may be purchased until July 25.
