Comelec bids out supply deals for barangay, SK polls

MANILA, Philippines - The Commission on Elections (Comelec) is looking for the supplier of ballot boxes and other election paraphernalia to be used in the barangay and Sangguniang Kabataan (SK) elections on Oct. 31. 

Based on separate invitations, the poll body’s bids and awards committee (BAC) said a P642.1-million budget was approved to procure 233,500 ballot boxes at P2,750 per unit.

Bid documents may be purchased until July 25. The BAC will hold a pre-bid conference on July 11 at the Comelec main office in Intramuros, Manila.

 Bidders should have completed a similar project within 10 years from the date of submission and receipt of bids.

The Comelec is also bidding out contracts to print and deliver election forms, including tally sheets for the SK elections, minutes of voting and counting of votes, paper seals for book of voters, certificates of votes and general instruction for board of election tellers.

A P31,369.017 budget was earmarked for the contracts while P21,533,705 was approved for the printing and delivery of envelopes for voting and counting.

Bidders for the two contracts should have completed a similar project within five years before the submission of their bids.

“Bidding is restricted to Filipino citizens or sole proprietorships, partnerships, or organizations with at least 60 percent interest or outstanding capital stock belonging to citizens of the Philippines and to citizens or organizations of a country the laws or regulations of which grant similar rights or privileges to Filipino citizens,” the bid invitation stated.
