Gloria Arroyo casts vote in Pampanga
MANILA, Philippines – Former president and incumbent Second District Pampanga Rep. Gloria Macapagal-Arroyo on Monday voted in a polling precinct in Lubao, Pampanga.
Re-electionist Arroyo, wearing a neck brace, cast her vote in precinct 0001A at the Lubao Central Elementary School in Lubao, Pampanga. She was accompanied by her husband, former first gentleman Jose Miguel “Mike” Arroyo.
Arroyo last April 20 filed a petition before the Sandiganbayan seeking a furlough to leave the Veterans Memorial Medical Center (VMMC) where she is under hospital arrest to vote. She cited that the law does not disqualify a prisoner from voting during the elections.
On Tuesday, the Supreme Court granted Macapagal-Arroyo’s motion to leave VMMC. She is running for a third and last term in Congress.
